Back again in Salt Bread Diaries, now part 18! This time we’re visiting the fancy schmancy Bakerman to try out their take on salt bread: the salt bread croissant. I initially went to the ASHTA branch but the staff informed me that the salt bread croissant was only available at the Plaza Indonesia branch. By the time this post is published, it seems like that the salt bread croissant is now available at every outlet.

Entering the restaurant, you would see an array of Bakerman’s baked goods proudly displayed, along with a chunk of faux butter mountain. A stack of salt bread croissant was the centerpiece. The signature holographic boxes were everywhere. The furniture, wall treatment and flooring somewhat complement each other’s texture, style and color combinations. Brown marble, ripple, cold stainless, iridescent, leather, earthy colored tiles…so many things going on! I have always loved eclectic interior design though.

Now let’s talk about the salt bread croissant itself! Visually, it was surely interesting. Salt bread shape, with the twisted croissant texture. Yet when I took the first bite, it was easy to tell that I was eating a salt bread – not a croissant. The texture was crunchy, but firm. No annoying, excessive crumbles. I felt like the salt bread dough was wrapped inside the croissant dough. The croissant was just the shell.
Sadly I didn’t taste any buttery sensation. The overall taste was not that salty as well. Nevertheless, I was quite fond of this salt bread croissant. The unique texture surely did the heavy lifting.
