Searching for the best salt bread: Bread Culture

Welcome back to Salt Bread Diaries, now part 16. Oh, how I adore the name “Bread Culture”! Microbial culture…social culture… what a smart pun! Bread Culture has three store locations, and I visited the one in Ashta SCBD.

This was the first time I found a bakery that offers two versions of salt bread: soft and hard. I thought it’s a nice initiative! While I would love to try both of them, I had to limit my salt bread intake that day. The option would be either purchasing soft and hard salt bread, or one plain and one intriguing flavor like the usual route. I decided to go with the latter.

Honestly wanted to try the pistachio one…but it’s so expensive…

I ordered plain and ube butter. The plain salt bread was yummy, but nothing really mindblowing. It was reheated but the bread was just a little warm (I honestly preferred it to be steaming hot). The butter taste was there, but it didn’t melt in my mouth.

On the other hand, the ube butter piqued my taste buds on the very first bite. It’s good! The salty and sweet balance was delicious! There were real candied Japanese sweet potato bits inside, covered in creamy sweet potato filling. The filling was really smooth.

Final thoughts:
Food: 7,8/10 | Service: 7,5/10
Good salt bread but not that memorable.
