Dear all avid frequenters of Blok M, which establishment comes to mind when you think of Blok M’s buzzing crowd? The first that comes to mine is Obihiro Nikudon. Considering the extreme craze (people literally stay overnight in the hotel across the restaurant to get the first spot), I have yet to be convinced to stand for hours to try their beef bowl. Second one is Little Salt Bread, whom I have previously reviewed. The third one is OO Donut. I never see this place stranded with no customers. A line at a minimum of ten people is always guaranteed.

I might have picked the wrong time to get my donut fix here since it was scorching hot and the queue was very long…and slow. The staff handed us an umbrella, a pencil and menu to write our order. They had quite a wide selection, and the flavors were pretty intriguing too. Changed my mind several times until I came up with my final decision because I didn’t want to overbuy.

Dining in was not a option there – no chairs and tables provided. After finally reaching the cashier to finish the transaction, I walked away to Pasaraya and scouted around for somewhere comfortable to sit, take a sip and bite of these donuts. Were the queue and sweat worth it??

I bought three bombolonis and one donut: Grilled Strawberry Choco, Crown Melon Cream, Creme Brulee and Baked Vanilla Chocolate. Made with pumpkin dough, the texture was incredibly soft. I was pretty pleased with Grilled Strawberry Choco since the chocolate cream filling was very generous. The strawberry was a mere garnish though.
Crown Melon Cream was not bad either. I particularly liked the cooling effect from the fresh honeydew bits. The cream filling was also generous! I expected only two melon pieces were included as the topping but it seemed like they added more inside the cream.

Baked Vanilla Chocolate was the only donut among the others. For a donut, it’s pretty thin. Since I liked everything burnt and grilled, the torched white chocolate cream might be my favorite!
The Creme Brulee bomboloni had cinnamon-flavored cream filling. Not a big fan of the glaze – I felt like munching keripik kaca because it’s way too thick and hard. The glaze didn’t crumble nicely when I bited it.

Final thoughts:
Food: 7,8/10 | Service: 7/10
Pretty good! I can see myself queueing again to try the other flavors.
